All grades of affiliated football in Scotland require referees.

That's where we as Referees and Officials play our part, by administering the Laws of the Game in each and every match that takes place throughout the footballing world in Fife.

Things you need to know

Whether you want to be the next equivalent of John Rowbotham from Kirkcaldy who reffed Premier League Matches, European Matches and World Cup Qualifying Matches, or even if you wish just to officiate in public park football, then the Fife Referees Association offers a fantastic opportunity for YOU to become a fully qualified football referee.

If you need an incentive, after exceptionally hard work and commitment, Fife now has Lorraine Clark as its first female FIFA Assistant Referee who officiates in matches in Europe and around the world as well as in the Scottish Football League and Junior League. The opportunities in refereeing are abound for you, both men and women
.

There has never been a better time to become a referee. The Youth Development Initiative provides opportunities for newly qualified referees to officiate at matches involving the talent that will hopefully one day be playing professional football.

In addition to matches involving the youth teams of Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline Athletic, East Fife and Raith Rovers, you can get the chance to referee the youth development initiative teams of Celtic and Rangers and all of the other SPL clubs.

Whether you want to referee in the World Cup Finals, Scottish Premier League, Scottish Football League, Juniors, Amateur or Youth Leagues, the opportunity is there for you.

If you can't wait till September, or just want to find out how much you know about the Laws of the Game, why not test your current knowledge by giving these questions a try?. S
