Child Protection Co-ordinators

David McGeahcie is a Category 3 Referee and is the Child Protection Co-ordinator of the Association.

The Child Protection Co-ordinator will have the main responsibility for managing child and vulnerable adult protection issues.  The role of the Child Protection Co-ordinator in regard to issues relating to members is detailed in The Association's Procedure for Managing Suspicions and Allegations of Abuse of a Child or Vulnerable Adult against a Member.

The Co-ordinator is responsible for dealing with Enhanced Disclosure Checks for all new referees and progressing the checks via SFA headquarters in Glasgow . No new referee may start officiating without final clearance from Hampden.

The Co-ordinator will meet with new trainees at one of the first classes to outline their role in the Association and to give advice on the completion of the disclosure check forms.

The Co-ordinator is available at any time to talk or meet with any referee concerned about possible incidents in a game.
